Chemistry

Chemistry

In our classrooms and laboratories, students develop a strong understanding of the principles of energy and matter, chemical reactions, and laboratory science. Chemistry helps us understand the world at its most fundamental level, from the atoms that form every object to the chemical reactions that power life itself. Chemistry explains how substances interact, change, and form everything we see, use, and rely on each day.

Whether exploring the makeup of matter or developing new formulas and products, chemistry is a dynamic and essential discipline that connects science to real-world impact. It opens the doors to a great variety of professions and careers essential to modern life.

Did You Know?

Three new elements, nihonium (Nh), moscovium (Mc), and tennessine (Ts), were officially added to the periodic table in 2016. These elements were discovered by international teams of scientists who created them in particle accelerators by smashing atomic nuclei together. Chemistry is one of the most versatile fields, and chemists play key roles in medicine, cosmetics, food science, environmental protection, and space exploration.
